Business Information Analyst - City, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, NE1

Role Summary

Life in Business Information could never be described as boring! Our regular reporting provides structure to our days, but it's the development of new MI that keeps us entertained and our brains ticking. Ad hoc requests will keep you on your toes and mean that there is always something new to learn. We serve the whole Society so these can be as diverse as reporting customer footfall in one of our 27 branches, or providing stats on First Time Buyer mortgages to our Marketing team.

We'd love to add a new recruit to the gang and depending on your existing level of experience we'd welcome you as either a Trainee Business Information Analyst or Business Information Analyst. You'll have enough autonomy to develop your own ideas and ways of doing things, but we're a close knit team so we're always happy to share a problem (or cake!) and provide a sounding board. New developments keep us busy enhancing existing MI, and as we're data geeks at heart we're always spotting data quality issues.

We are based within the Finance function so reconciliations underpin everything we do to ensure our MI is accurate. A lot of our reporting goes to a regulator and as the data experts we often work closely with our IT Development team and test our own programs to ensure the end results are perfect.

Departmental Overview

Every day is different within the Business Information team - ultimately we are responsible for internal reporting to support business users. In practise this means that we work hard to ensure that our standard reports are as slick as possible to give us more time to work on ad hoc requests. We are also responsible for a number of regulatory reporting requirements and work closely with the Technical Reporting team to ensure that requirements are understood and fulfilled.

Skills and Experience

To fit into our team you'll need to be a whizz in Excel and you probably have experience that demonstrates your attention to detail and accuracy. We deal with requests from all over the business so you'll have clear and concise written and spoken communication skills.

Our team works closely together to ensure we provide the best possible service to our customers so you'll be happy contributing to this common goal, but you'll also be comfortable working independently on your own projects. You will of course have support every step of the way from our management duo, Information Specialist and 5 other Business Information Analysts already enjoying the dynamic workload our department has to offer.
You'll be a logical thinker and probably love to solve a problem. Whilst you may have experience in Data Analysis or writing queries, if not these are skills we'd be delighted to help you develop.

The recruitment process will include an Excel test, which will be carried out to assess your current skill levels.
