Trading Analyst

£30,000 - £50,000 dependant on experience

Responsibilities:

The role will involve working within the London Crude Oil Trading department to provide analytical support to the traders and to liaise with other departments internally to successfully distribute/extract pertinent information.

The successful candidate will work very closely with the Traders and other back office functions in order to fulfil this role. As such a high level of interpersonal skills combined with a sound analytical approach to decision making will be advantageous.

Duties;

  • Carry out deal entry for hedging instruments executed by the desk
  • Track crude volumes, bills of lading dates and pricing for hedge activity, ensuring accurate accounting
  • Review the Crude Supply Book for accuracy in deal information, cargo by cargo tracking for mark to market, secondary costs and system changes
  • Manage and issue daily market reports
  • Provide ad-hoc analysis for the team
  • Collect oil programs for each oil region and provide analysis on each region
  • Provide regular group reports on oil flows, refinery turnarounds and market trends
  • Manage the crude tracking database to assist in monitoring oil flows
  • Ensure accurate deal execution and cost evaluation by serving as the primary point of contact between crude supply and internal contacts in Contract Administration, Risk Management, Feedstock Accounting, Demurrage etc
  • Conduct market research activities to assist the team
  • Track internal inventory positions to assist in meeting end year LIFO targets

Education/Competencies/Skills:

  • Educated to a degree standard
  • Knowledge of the refining/oil industry in either a technical or commercial aspect advantageous
  • Advanced knowledge of financial concepts required
  • Excellent analytical skills and advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint
